Marina Pez Vela
Quepos marina for sportfishing and day sails

Marina Pez Vela is the full-service marina in downtown Quepos, a few minutes from Manuel Antonio on the Central Pacific coast. It has over 250 wet slips, a fuel dock, dry rack storage and a waterfront plaza. It suits visiting yachts, sportfishing anglers and anyone booking a catamaran or sailing trip along the Manuel Antonio coast.
What they offer
Marina Pez Vela is the marina, yacht yard and waterfront development right in the middle of Quepos, on Costa Rica's Central Pacific coast. If you've booked a catamaran tour, a sunset sail or a sportfishing day around Manuel Antonio, there's a good chance you'll board here.
For boat owners, it's one of the most complete facilities on the Pacific side of Central America. Slips come with electricity, fiber internet and TV connections, dock boxes and a pump-out station, and there's 24/7 security, public restrooms, parking, garbage and recycling, and a concierge. The fuel station sells polished fuel, which the marina says is unique in the region. The administrative team also helps visiting boats with the process of clearing into Costa Rica.
The slips and services
- Wet slips: over 250, taking vessels up to 200 feet.
- Depth: a safe operating depth of 14 feet, inside a protected basin.
- Dry storage: a dry rack with 40 spots for boats up to 38 feet, served by a forklift rated at 25,000 pounds.
- Yacht yard: there's a separate yard for maintenance work; ask the marina about haul-out capacity for your boat.
- Radio: VHF channel 69.
Slips are available on short and long terms. Check current rates and availability directly, because they change with the season.
Where it is
The marina sits on the Quepos waterfront, with the town's shops, banks and supermarkets a short walk away. Manuel Antonio, with its national park, beaches and hotels, is about 15 minutes up the hill by road. The marina also has a commercial plaza with places to eat and shop, so it's a pleasant spot to wait before a tour even if you're not a boater.
Who it suits
- Anglers. Quepos is one of Costa Rica's best-known sportfishing ports, and the marina hosts big billfish events. In April 2026 it hosted the Bisbee's Costa Rica Offshore, the first edition of that tournament held outside Mexico, and its calendar lists dorado and marlin tournaments for late 2026 and an offshore event in January 2027.
- Cruising sailors heading up or down the coast who need fuel, provisions, a secure berth and help with paperwork.
- Day-trippers. Several sailing and catamaran operators run from here, including Planet Dolphin and Sunset Sails Tours.
Good to know before you book
- Dry season on the Central Pacific runs roughly December to April. The rainy months bring afternoon showers, so many day tours leave in the morning.
- Humpback whales pass this coast in two seasons: southern-hemisphere whales from about July to October and northern-hemisphere whales from about December to March.
- If you're coming in from another country by boat, contact the marina before arrival about entry procedures, since the requirements can change.
